The other day I couldn't bare to see the mess in my window sill anymore.
As long time readers of this blog are well aware of, I collect pretty things and arrange them into even prettier still life displays in my work room's window sill. It's a hobby, a way to be creative, a drug (yeah, it's basically hoarding, I know).
Lately there haven't been any of the usual lovely well organized clusters of stuff, but a complete disarray of dusty things cluttering the space.
One thing I really love about dusting off and re-organizing my knick knacks is that I get to really look at them, remember where I found/bought/got the items and what they mean to me.
All cleaned and waiting to be re-organized.

Dusty but pretty. I bought the brown brooch on
Portobello road a year ago.
I found the beautiful pocket watch on a flea market in Nice and for a month it didn't work but then suddenly, on midsummer's eve, it started all by itself!
I wrote about that in
this post.
The little brush is actually a Moustache brush in silver. My grandfather gave it to me for fun when I was a little girl. It has the words Minne af E.E (translates to In memory of E.E) engraved on top of it. I think E.E was an old relative of mine but I'm not sure.
Kind of interesting that people used to engrave a brush made to groom your moustache. Today's plastic grooming products just aren't the same...
I made the metal tin in school when I was 13, I think. It's where I put coins from the different countries I visit.
I love old cigarette cases in silver. As I don't smoke I use them as business card cases instead. Or just to look at.
Here's a post from when I found these onesThe little aluminium pill tin is another gift from my grandfather. The aluminium creates dots on the pills if you use it for what it's actually for, so I use it for nothing instead. It's pretty, though.
Treasures from South Africa. I love seed pods so so so much!!
And the key is for the desk I'm sitting infront of right now. It keeps falling to the ground all the time so now I have included it in my window sill installation instead.
This is how to use an ashtray. There's no better way really.
And of course it needs to have boobs.
I love that little brooch with the sad and grim looking lady. I found her on a flea market and wrote a bit about her
in this post.
I could have written about each and every item here but it would have gone on forever and ever so if there is something you're interested in knowing the story behind, just write in the comments and I will answer there.
And just so you know. I will collect knick knacks for as long as I live and I will most definitely blog about my finds for an equally long time so prepare for more posts like this in the future.
So these days has been quite slow. I've been working at my "real" job and not really having any strength to get going on my own business. I guess it's the summer vacation feel that won't really leave my body.
As I'm slowly getting in to everyday routines again I look at all the photos I took with my phone during my week at Österlen and feel all warm inside.
Have a look with me:
A boat in a pond. Does it get more idyllic?
Hello. Yours truly in a hen house.
I had dinner with Astor the cat. He's got fierce eyes, hasn't he.
They have opened a Crêperie in the little village of Rörum where we live and we of course had to go check it out.
You can see for yourself how tasty it was. Omnomnom.
I had to bring David there when he came to Rörum. Like Astor the cat this dinner date has some fierce eyes...
Hello again, from behind a coffee cup.
Coffee with lots of milk. The only real way to drink coffee, you know.
One day I found wild strawberries, or Smultron as we call them in Sweden. They went straight in to my mouth half a second after this photo was snapped.
Rye in hand (I did not eat this, I promise).
It was very foggy for a few days. This is a parkway in Simrishamn called Suckarnas gång (Aisle of sighs) leading the way to the cemetary. This is also the place for the enormous weekly fleamarket.
I love fog but it gives me head aches. I hate how something as beautiful as this is bad for me. Humidity and I are not best friends, though I sure wish we could be.
Have I told you Österlen is amazing? Österlen is amazing.
Proof of the amazingness of Österlen: We found kittens!
Look at that face!
"Please, please, please can I keep it? I don't have to be allergic..."
You must already know that I'm drawn to capturing stilleben with my camera. This is one of my favourites from the trip.
On our last day it rained almost not stop.
And then in the evening it was that fog again, rolling over the hills.
Did I tell you that I miss this place?
(If you wan't to you can follow me on instagram to see more photos. My name there is lottalosten, as always.)
Had to show you some of the lovely things I thrifted today!
A small suitcase. Isn't it so pretty!? I don't really need it but how could I say no to it when it sat there on the ground looking all cute? I just couldn't.
A heap of crystals from an old chandelier. I use them in my jewelry as you might know. I used to have loads of them but a while ago I realised that my box was almost empty! Oh no! I was so happy to find these for a really great price.
And the best thing! A teeny tiny dictionary!
So cute!!
Not sure I would call oatmeal porrige a soup though...
I thought it would be cute to take a photo of the translation for Love to show you non swedish speaking people about Kärlek, but when I did I noticed the L in Love was missing! Oh dear, what is Love without the L?
-OVE!
(...And that's a man's name in Sweden.)
One: These lovely ladies were in my home this evening. We have a theatre group together (with two more lovely persons that couldn't be here today). After some coffee and laughter we worked hard a few hours. Such a great bunch of people!
Two: To enter the kitchen later in the evning and see that my (fabulous) polka dot jacket matches the pitcher on the table which in turn matches the chair. All in perfect harmony.
Sometimes I think my mind creates Still Life everywhere I go.
That's my superpower. Now I need a cool name to go with that superpower...
